fishdipHello, my AO3 username is Rhizophora, and thank you for writing for me! If you have any questions to pass through the mods I am more than happy to answer. Basically: I love my teeny fandoms, and I will adore anything you care to write for them minding DNWs.
Any rating/pairing you care to write would be excellent. I enjoy a wide variety of things, including but not limited to fluff, angst, smut, hurt/comfort, canon-typical violence, aliens, xeno, bodily transformation (of the horrific, agonizing variety OR the more relaxed variety, as in Resident Alien or Labyrinth), wholesome romance, humor, utter misery, women supporting women, and darker/upsetting romance. I'm fine with mpreg in all of these fandoms. I'm happy with putting characters through abuse as long as there is a happy ending--or, at least, the possibility of an eventual happy ending!
General DNWs Noncon/sexual violence against women, on-screen domestic violence (mentions are ok), portrayal of women as helpless victims, women's bodies portrayed as unpleasant/nasty, child abuse, explicit underage, scat, main character death, unrequested gender headcanons (i.e. cis characters should remain cis and agender characters should remain agender), 1st or 2nd person, poetry (snippets are fine), unrequested AUs, no-hope endings, miscarriage/abortion, traumatic childbirth/PPD (please note that I'm fine with realistically unpleasant portrayals of childbirth; I am specifically DNWing intense and lingering mental/physical trauma linked to childbirth), unhappy endings.

What I love about this fandom: There's SO MUCH I LOVE about this fandom. I was instantly charmed by Harry's struggle to "act normal" and relate to people, and his constant stream of reassurance to himself that he doesn't need to become attached to these people...despite the fact that he obviously is deeply attached to them, even Max! I love the moments of humor in this show and the way everyone gets their chance to shine, even the initially downtrodden Liv. Every time a new female character was introduced I found myself wearily anticipating that this would be the "bitch" character we're supposed to hate...only to find that (almost) all of the women were strong and likable and relatable and, for the most part, supported each other. I'm so, so tired of seeing women pitted against women in media. This has been a balm on my soul. I love the way that characters sort out their misunderstandings and prejudices and get a chance to grow--y'know, like real humans. See: the way Mike's relationship with Liv has blossomed into a genuinely respectful friendship and partnership.
(Optional) Prompts:
• I'm a dirty filthy Kate/D'Arcy shipper, perhaps the only one, and I would love to see Kate and D'Arcy get together. Maybe when Kate found out she might be pregnant. Maybe after!
• I'd also love to see Harry/Asta; despite the way he frustrates her (and she surely deserves better!) I love the way that Harry seems almost soothing to Asta, and how deeply attached to her he is. I loved the misunderstandings between Asta and her family in which everyone's convinced she and Harry are together but hiding it, haha. Maybe another family camping trip where they DO sneak off into the woods, for less serious purposes. I'd be happy with platonic Harry & Asta as well! Watching her try to guide him through more weird human social situations would be great.
• Harry interacting with Max & Sahar never fails to make me laugh. I'd love more of the kids bullying him in the diner and/or solving a mystery with him.
• This is a sort of off-the-wall one, but I would love to see Deputy Liv and Sheriff Mike get together (minus infidelity--maybe this is an AU where she's separated/divorced). On a platonic note, I'd also love to see them working together as a team to solve mysteries or just out on the town unwinding with a beer. And maybe more karaoke. I don't think Liv or Mike were nominated specifically as characters, so please note that I'm totally fine with Liv and Mike being the only characters that appear in the fic if you go with this.
• D'Arcy & Asta OR D'arcy/Asta: I love their friendship so, so much and I would love to see them either having a good time, getting up to shenanigans, or smooching. Or both? If you choose to have them out on the town, I'd love to see D'Arcy and Asta showing Harry a good time in Patience! Or maybe they even get him to visit a bar in Jessup with them and end up causing a hilarious scene? I don't know, I'm just looking for sweetness and humor here.
Fandom-specific DNWs: Mentions of Asta's ex-husband and previous situation are fine, but I'd rather not dwell on domestic violence in detail or have domestic violence be a current plot point. What I love about this fandom: I am grossly in love with this film. The worldbuilding is soooooo so good, and the moments of dark humor are excellent. I adore Wikus's devotion to Tania and the dissonance there--that Wikus can treat her so gently and still seems to hold next to zero compassion for the prawns. Horrific body transformations fascinate me, and I love how hilariously awful Wikus's situation is. Wikus's slow shift from self-interest to the willingness to self-sacrifice towards the end is lovely. I also love stories (like this one) where the protagonist is forced to choose from a set of terrible options, with no obvious easy solution.
(Optional) Prompts:
• Hi it's me, a big gross shipper, and I would die for Wikus/Christopher. I feel like there are several angles you could approach this from. Maybe they knew each other pre-canon (there's that comment Wikus tosses in about Christopher always being a little sharper than the rest, so obviously they've met before...). Maybe he really was "obsessed with them" as a colleague puts it? He definitely seems very geeky about them in the film. I can't imagine any pre-canon relationship between Wikus and Chris would be particularly healthy at first given the power differential, so feel free to lean into that. A relationship that starts during canon as Wikus transforms would be wonderful, too! Lots of self-loathing from poor tortured Wikus maybe. Maybe Chris is trying to comfort him and it ends up horribly (depending on your perspective haha). Or maybe Wikus ends up escaping with him after all? What happens then?
• Wikus & Christopher: yes I like them as friends too. Missing scenes from canon would be fantastic! I'd love to see more about Wikus's transformation and maybe some of Chris's point of view and thoughts on Wikus. It had to be tough cooperating with someone who a) started off in MNU and b) ruined Chris's plan to get his kid off-world. I'd love a good brotp here. Maybe they escape together, or maybe Chris comes back for him? How did they manage to sneak out of D9 and back into Joburg to break into MNU, anyways?
• Wikus/Tania: ok yes I love them too. I love how gooshy they are for each other, and how Tania is still defiantly hoping that Wikus will come back. She's got to know that he's fully prawn by the time she gives that interview, and just how disgusted the world in general would be, but she's quite unashamed about showing off her collection of Wikus's things. I would absolutely love Wikus and Tania meeting again after he's transformed and seeing the agonizing awkwardness (and hopefully, you know, eventual smuttiness, though that's up to you) of that meeting. Does she catch him leaving another gift? Does she take a job with MNU and end up tracking him down? Is it a purely accidental meeting? SIDE NOTE: there is an ultrasound on the wall of Tania's little shrine to Wikus. Feel free to ignore it as though it doesn't exist, or include Wikus having a kid he hasn't met, orrrrr hey maybe it's a weird xeno baby she's currently pregnant with???
• If none of the above appeal to you, I'd be happy with pretty much any further exploration of the film/setting as long as Wikus is involved. He spent quite some time being tormented with those medical experiments; reading more about that would be neat. I'd also like missing canon scenes of him scrounging around District 9, or completing his horrific transformation, or dodging prawns or, hey, stealing clothes off the line in Joburg. Sneaking around post-transformation and adjusting to his new perspective on humanity would be neat, too. Creeping through his old neighborhood to leave that flower at Tania's door? Idk, anything! Alternately, an AU where space explorer Wikus meets Chris out in the galaxy would be interesting!
Fandom-specific DNWs: No-hope endings! I don't mind taking fic in a very dark direction (it'd be hard to avoid in this fandom tbh), but I want at least a glimmer of hope at the end. Tania being hopelessly disgusted by prawn Wikus is also a DNW, as is Wikus shipped with anyone not Chris or Tania. Finally, I would like to DNW pure fluff in this fandom; fic on the fluffy side is totally fine, but I'd like there to be at least some conflict/angst mixed in.
Fandom-specific notes: There's a lot of fanon in District 9 and different takes based on the deleted material, the promotional material, etc. I don't mind if you stick to fanon, ignore it, or deviate from it with your own interpretations! It would be neat if you incorporated more South African culture/Afrikaans language (a prawn version of Heritage Day or braaing would kill me off fhdlkfs) but that's purely optional.

What I love about this fandom: The worldbuilding! I love xenofiction (if that wasn't obvious already) and a book told entirely from the POV of an alien species was a real treat. The biology of Seeker's species was fascinating, with their gradual shift between genders and societal roles, as was the gradually unfolding story of what happened to Seeker's world and the price Seeker's species paid for their sentience. The cost of sentience is a theme I'm both distressed and fascinated by.
(Optional) Prompts:
• More worldbuilding pleeeease. I would love to read more about the history of Seeker's species. Tell me about their wars and their culture! Tell me about the construction of the preserve and how they decided which members of their species would live their lives the "natural" way. Tell me about their legends and histories, and what romance looks like for their species! I'd also like to read more about Labyrinth itself, and the traps that wait there, and why.
• So on the topic of romance and friendship, how does romance usually play out for their species, with their fluid genders and modes of reproduction? Tell me about Seeker's liaisons, or how Seeker's life would have played out if it hadn't stumbled across the wall that rose up and up forever back when it was Swift, running on the plains.
• More about Seeker's relationships with the other pilgrims to Labyrinth would be fascinating as well! Tell me more about their stories and the bonds that Seeker builds (or doesn't build) with them as they all take on the obstacles of Labyrinth. Perhaps Seeker meets another lost person on their quest, somewhere in the wilderness? I want to hear about it!
